Samsung has launched what it claims to be world's largest, commercially available, full high definition LCD TV. Measuring in at 70 inches, the new TV is backlit by the light emitted by tunnel lamp (LED) instead of the conventional CCFL or cold cathode fluorescent lamp. Recovery of Samsung unique local dimming technology, the LED illumination can be disabled in a dark image areas, thus providing a dynamic contrast ratio in the region of 500, 000: 1.
With this picture improvement technology is also a sunken total power consumption as much as 50 percent. Local dimming backlighting refers to the fact that the normal line shaped CCFL lighting has been replaced by hundreds of LED light sources. This allows the fire burning parts of the picture on the screen to be brightened up to its maximum, while paused all light in the darkest regions of the screen. This in turn results in absolute contrast ratio while reducing energy consumption due to a decrease in brightness of dark areas on the screen.
Samsung also claimed that as the unique LED scan technology, flickering and ghosting problems that are normally associated with large screen LCD TVs are virtually eliminated. Scan LED refers to the ability of the LEDs to drop rapidly in sequence, which eliminates artificially ghosting animations.
Intensify the elegance and sophistication, Samsung new 70 inches completed full High Definition LCD TV with a high gloss black facade and trim titanium chromium. There are two hidden speakers with a rear woofer to deliver rich sound quality that match the larger than life on-screen images.
Samsung plans to have the new 70-inch Full HD LCD TV available globally in the second half of 2007.
